Fermín Alcasena is a Wildland Fire Science and Integrative Management MSc and Ph.D. in Forest and Environmental Management working as a Postdoc at the University of Lleida. He conducted three-year research stay at the Oregon State University with the USDA Forest Service International Visitor Program. After graduating as Forest Engineer, he worked in the private sector as the operations manager for a logging company. Fermín has been involved for many years in the public forest management of small rural communities in northern Spain as a freelance advisor or public representative. He then initiated his research career in 2013 with a one-year research stay at the CMCC Foundation in Sassari, Italy. Currently, the main research lines relate to wildfire risk assessment, extreme fire modeling, and fuel treatment design in forest ecosystems.
